In the grit chamber, sand and heavier particles sink to the bottom, separating them from the wastewater. The sand is then transported to a sand washer for cleaning and dewatering. Even street sand, filter sand, and similar dry materials can be handled by Hydria Water’s sand washer. The organic material usually continues to the next step in mechanical treatment: presedimentation.
